I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes I feel like I’m having emotional whiplash daily.
The Supreme Court leaked draft which would lead to the overturning of Roe V. Wade. HOLY SH*T.
Blake Lively’s dress. AMAZING.
Living on the same planet at the same time as a real life monster-known as Vladimir Putin. UGH.
Johnny and Amber. WTF.
Guns have killed 14,740 Americans so far this year. WHY, WHY?
Pete Davidson is everywhere. UH, HUH?
Is it just me, or does our world seem to be disintegrating before our eyes? Yet, I still want to know when the 3rd season of Bridgerton is coming out-oh, calm down, you watch it too.
That being said, like many of you, I am drained and getting sick of my own emotions seemingly not giving me a heads up on what they plan to do next.
The recent news of the leaked Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade and end the constitutional right to an abortion has started a political firestorm and is deepening divisions even further.
This decision would essentially dismantle 50 years of precedent, paving the way for states to limit abortion rights.
I chatted with Dr. Meera Shah, the Chief Medical Officer at Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, the author of “You’re the Only One I’ve Told: The Stories Behind Abortion”, and the Medical Director of Whole Woman’s Health Alliance in South Bend, Indiana.
I ask her about her decision to join Planned Parenthood, her highs and lows the past four years, the threat abortion providers experience, and the ground-breaking work she is doing with the trans and non-binary community at her clinics.
She talks about her experience working with patients from India, the repercussions of Roe v. Wade being overturned, who will be affected the most, what abortion clinics are preparing for now, and what the major consequences of this decision will mean for our future.

Besides packing our bags for our move to Texas, I’m working on a few things for the podcast that I’m super excited about. Until then, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite 90's jams that pretty sums up what’s going on in my head right now.
